OSLGA Legislative Arm Elects Principal Officers

The legislative arm of Oshimili South local government area, today, Thursday, elected her principal officers at the council's legislative chambers.
















The legislative arm voted into office house leader, deputy house leader, majority leader, deputy majority leader, chief whip and deputy chip whip.

After the rites of row call of councillors present was perfected, the fully constituted legislative arm, commenced nomination and sustaining votes for principal officers.

Hon Oniah Nonso Anthony, representing ward 4, nominated Hon Nwose Peter Chukwuemeka, as the house leader, while Hon Ojekunle Isaac Bamidele, representing ward 12 seconded the nomination.

His nomination was sustained by the council's legislature.

Hon Chukwuemeka Nwose nominated Hon Enebeli Obi Oputa, representing ward 3, as the deputy house leader and was supported by Hon Onuwa Nwanwuogor.

The council also sustained his nomination to serve.

Hon Oburota Micheal Chinedu nominated, representing ward 11, Hon Oniah Nonso Anthony, as the Majority Leader and was sustained by Hon Adim John Onochie, representing ward 6, the Majority Leader's nomination was sustained by an affirmation voice vote.

Hon Adim John Onochie's nomination as deputy majority leader, was presented by Hon Enebeli Obi Oputa and seconded by Hon Nonso Oniah.

Hon Adim Patrick Nwaokolo, representing ward 5, nominated Hon Oduah Ifeyinwa Georgina, representing ward 14 as the Chief Whip and was seconded Hon Nwanwuogor Onuwa, the nomination was also sustained by the house.

Hon Chukwuemeka Peter Nwose, nominated Hon Adim John Onochie as the deputy chief whip and seconded by Hon Ojekunle Issac Bamidele.

In his acceptance speech, the house leader, Hon Chukwuemeka Nwose, thanked his fellow law makers for the trust and confidence they found in him and promised to be an efficient house leader.

I will be diligent, fair, just and serve with the fear of God in the discharge of my day to day duties, Hon Nwose pointed out.

I will be guided by the constitution, local government laws and house standing order rules in the day to day running of the house business.

My leadership will lay down the necessary legislative framework for the chairman to effectively deliver the dividend of democracy to our people, Hon Nwose said.

He promised to establish a cordial working relationship with the executive arm, so that the council area will witness and record sustainable infrastructural development and good governance.

The electoral process was very peaceful, orderly and witnessed the council boss, Hon Comrade Uche Osadebe, the formal house leader, Hon Ebeodi Eluaka and other political actors and leaders from the council area.
